Norfolk Birdwatching Weekends
Norfolk Birdwatching Weekends with The Biggest Twitch
For the very best in Norfolk bird watching
Our 3-day birdwatching trips to Norfolk have proven so popular this year that we will be running tours throughout 2012. We like to keep our itinerary flexible so that we can look for any rare or scarce species that may arrive during our time in Norfolk. Expect to see around 120 species! Depending on season, our tours will run approximately as follows:

We depart North Wales early morning and break our journey to Norfolk with stops at some excellent birding locations en route. The time of year will dictate where we stop, but these may include Lakenheath Fen RSPB where we hope to see such wonderful summer species as Golden Oriole, Common Crane, Hobby and much more. We may call in at an area of breckland where we will look for the charismatic Stone Curlew and a good chance of Wood Lark, and if time allows we may end our evening with a look for Golden Pheasant.

During the day we will visit the key birding sites in North Norfolk and of course be aware of any rare or scarce species that may be in the area. Due to the good chance of something special to see along the coast, the order in which we visit sites will be kept flexible. However we are sure to visit:

- Titchwell RSPB where, depending on the season, we will look for Bittern, Marsh Harrier, Avocet, Mediterranean Gull, Little Tern, Cetti’s Warbler, Bearded Tit
- Choseley drying barns to catch up with Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer, Grey and Red-legged Partridge
- Holkham Park and marsh for Egyptian Goose and woodland species
- Cley NWT where, depending on the time of year, we may encounter Spoonbill, Garganey, Yellow Wagtail,a good line-up of waders, Snow Bunting or perhaps a Shore Lark
- Salthouse Heath, where if the weather is suitable in the summer, we will look for for Nightingale, Nightjar and Woodcock

In the summer, we may look for some of the area’s rarest breeding birds including Montagu’s Harrier as well as Dartford Warbler. In other seasons, we will look for the best birds available. These could include huge numbers of wild geese, waders, scarce and rare passage migrants. We will be reactive to any breaking bird news so we keep our plans flexible.

Birding under the big skies of Norfolk
We will leave Norfolk mid-afternoon stopping en-route for any particular birds that we would like to see and aim to arrive back in North Wales mid-evening, where our tour concludes. We can of course arrange collection and drop off points en route at convenient locations, such as Huntingdon railway station for example, on request.
The cost per person is £345, based on a maximum of six participants on a bed and breakfast basis. If you would like more details, please email us us on
