Join us on a wild goose chase!
How would you like to see thousands of newly arrived Pink footed Geese and hundreds of beautiful Whooper Swans and much more!

Kingfishers are regular at Martin Mere WWT Reserve
We are going to spend the day at Martin Mere WWT Lancashire on Tuesday 2 November to see the wonderful spectacle of masses of Pink footed Geese and Whooper Swans. Other species should include huge numbers of wildfowl, raptors - Marsh Harrier, Peregrine and Merlin - waders which could include Ruff. Other birds we may encounter include Barn Owl, Tree Sparrow, Kingfisher and much more. We will also look for the fast declining Corn Buntings that are hanging on nearby. We will of course be ready to take in any other good birds in the area or close to our route, perhaps some Waxwings if we are lucky!
We will leave RSPB Conwy at 8am, where there is safe parking, and return early evening probably around 5.30pm depending on birds, traffic and weather! The cost of the full day, which includes guiding, use of optics, field guide, a day checklist, and transport, is £35 pounds - good value we think for over nine hours. The cost does not include entrance fee to Martin Mere WWT, free for members of WWT, food and drink during the day. The reserve has an excellent cafe or you may wish to bring a packed lunch. We will certainly have hot drink breaks during the day and of course the reserve has loos.
If you would like to come over by train we can pick you up at Llandudno Junction station at 8am or if a pick up place east of Conwy is easier no problem.
Martin Mere is a wonderful birding location and we will have a great fun day out. If you would like to join us email info@thebiggesttwitch.com and we can reserve a place for you.
