Why we use them

When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. These include small files known as cookies. They cannot be used to identify you personally.

These pieces of information are used to improve services for you through, for example:

  • recognising that you may already have given a username and password so you don’t need to do it for every web page requested
  • measuring how many people are using services, so they can be made easier to use and there’s enough capacity to ensure they are fast
  • analysing anonymised data to help us understand how people interact with our website so we can make them better

You can manage these small files and learn more about them from the article, Internet Browser cookies- what they are and how to manage them

When a Capper goes bad in the forest

One of the many highlights of our Finland and Norway birding tours is the chance to see a magnificent Capercaillie. Our expert local guide knew just the spot to look for one of these huge grouse.

We did not have to wait long before this beast of bird appeared

Caper attack 2
What a stunning sight, everyone was stunned and amazed by the views

Caper attack 4
Cameras clicked and we all soaked up this mega grouse

Caper attack 6
The Capper was in the mood to show off and displayed right in front of us

Caper attack 15
Alan crept a little closer

Caper attack 9
and Brian joined him for that special shot

Caper attack 7
Suddenly things changed in an instant and the Capper attacked!

Caper attack 10
The Capper charged Alan, who was quick to retreat

Caper attack 11
but the Capper was not giving up and gave chase!

Caper attack 12
Luckily the Capper decided that honour was restored and showed off again

Caper attack 14
But no, the Capper was not done, he then attacked the minibus!

Caper attack 3
We left this amazing bird still displaying in the forest, what an encounter!
