Two weeks today it is Birdfair
Yes, it is that time of year again already! Birdfair 2014 is just two weeks away, how did that happen? This years event is on 15-17 August and we look forward to seeing you there! As always there is so much to see and do as the Birdfair just gets better and better. The Official Programme this year has over 70 pages of things to do in just three days, impossible to see everything, but great fun to try! We certainly suggest you plan ahead so that you don't miss out on the special things you want to see. Descisions, descisions!
The best thing about Birdfair? Catching up with great friend, Peter Lobo...
Bryan Bland on the Sunbird stand....
Alan Tilmouth from Birders Against, a little camers shy....
Charlie Moores also fighting for our Hen Harriers....
Roy and Anja from Agami photo - can't wait to catch up....
Sonia who we haven't since Finland/Norway....
The Urban Birder, AKA David Lindo, the one in the shades!....
The guys from Letaka, Botswana and Kevin & Jacqui....
Barry and Wendy who always bring the sunshine....
So many people to catch up with and just three days, we need a week long Birdfair! On Saturday 16th we will be giving a talk on "Our Birding Year" a very fast paced dash through twelve months of our birding adventures since last Birdfair. From North Wales, Thailand, Spain, Scotland, Norfolk and more packed with photos. We are on in Lecture Marquee 1 at 12.30pm we would love to see you there!
The weird, and very rare, Ratchet-tailed Treepie from Thailand.
A Glaucous Gull was a nice find on Anglesey early this year.
Each afternoon we will be helping out at the Leica stand at the far end of the Optics Marquee, do come over and say hello - it is a great location, often has a breeze and you can see birds! Waders, wildfowl, terns, gulls and raptors are all seen from this prime spot in the optics marquee!
Maybe a Wood Sandpiper will drop in?
We are looking forward to getting our hands on Mark Avery's new book "A message from Martha" which cronicals the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon, once the commonest bird in the world! How could that happen? Well read the book and hope it will never happen again, and it wont if people stand up for birds and wildlife. One of Mark's, and ours, favourite quotes is "Bad things happen when good people do nothing!", so very true. On that not there is still time to get involved in Hen Harrier Day, this Sunday, 10th August. Check out Birders Against website.

We will be at the event in the Peak District with Mark and Chris Packham and a lot of other people! We will also be sporting our new Birders Against Wildlife Crime T shirts.
Our great friends at Tropical Birding are over again from Ecuador so we will certainly be swinging by their stand to say hello and the list of people to catch up with is very long indeed! We do hope to see you there too!
Birdfair is the perfect place to enjoy a cuppa and catch up with friends.
If your looking to change your optics - nowhere better than Birdfair!
Planning a birding holiday? Then come and talk to us first!
Birdfair really does have something for everyone and we can't wait for three days, and nights, of great fun, great friends old and new.
