The Biggest Twitch meets the BBC
Thank you to the members of the BBC, the Bucks Bird Club that is, who gave us such a warm welcome on a chilly Thursday night in Wendover. A good turnout packed the memorial hall and they were a great audience, enjoying the stories and images, and asking plenty of good questions afterwards. Many thanks to Chairperson, Rosie, and of course to our good friends Richard and Julie Birch who were kind enough to put us up and feed us during our stay. The next morning, Richard took us over to the BBOWT reserve at College Lake to meet the new site manager, Chris, and his enthusiastic team. While Alan chatted to them about the do's and don'ts of building an exciting and dynamic vistor attraction, Richard and Ruth did a lap of the reserve, clocking up good views Green Woodpeckers, a large mixed flock of Fieldfares and Redwings and a good record for this reserve, a pair of Stonechats. Wildfowl were well represented on the flooded former quarry. Corn Bunting was a surprise near the new toilet block! A great reserve now, it will be even better when the new visitor centre is open for business in 2010! See for yourselves on this link: http://www.bbowt.org.uk/content.asp?did=23523
