Quality birds in Norfolk

We headed down to Thetford to try and see a special bird, can you spot it in the photo above? A black-bellied Dipper had taken up residence on the River Thet on the outskirts of the town and after a little confusion with the directions we found the spot, and the bird!

Luckily this continental cousin of our familar Dipper was very helpful, posing on a branch for ages allowing us to soak up the views and take a few snaps.

Then the big guns moved in! Brian was firing away at the Dipper and got this wonderful shot below...

Back up on the coast we visited RSPB Titchwell again, and as we walked out to the beach Alan picked out a Garganey in flight! Luckily we were able to locate this out of season rarity on the Volunteer Marsh then later from the Parinder hide. Great views with the scope but a little far for the lens, even Brian's! But he did very well to take these shots..

Hope you can make out the drake Garganey? Look for the eye stripe!
Still more Norfolk pics to come so check back soon.
