North to Baga and the mountains
North to Baga and the mountains
We said goodbye to the Hotel Salad and headed north for just two hours in to the stunning mountains around Baga, a lovely small village with clear air and friendly locals.

Our first views of the spectacular vistas that would surround us for the next few days.

The views just keep coming here!

You need a head for heights to be this close to the edge!

Great for raptors, here Short-toed Eagle, we also watched Lammergeiers and Golden Eagles with dozens of Griffon Vultures.

This handsome Rock Bunting showed off

Wildflowers carpeted the area, what must it be like in Spring?!

Breath taking views everywhere.

The pine forests were alive with birds, here a juvenile Coal Tit

and Crested Tits were very common along with Bonelli's Warblers, dozens each day!

Crossbills were regularly encountered

This one intent on digging up the road! Check the bill! Iberian Crossbill???

Each corner produced another photo stop

Red-backed Shrikes were common in the valleys, here a male...

and here a juvenile.

Not just birds of course

Just as well this guy was behind a sturdy fence, looks mean!

Loads of orchids, ID on this anyone?
Still more pics to come so check back soon!
We will be running a tour here April 2012 so if your at all interested do contact us soon as we have had a number of enquiries already, looks like it will prove very popular and we know why, just a wonderful trip!
