Birding with The Biggest Twitch in Norfolk - Day 1
We were just into Cambridgeshire when news came in of a White-winged Black Tern at Grafham Water,so we made an instant turnaround!

All was calm at Grafham Water
Then we spotted the bird feeding low over the water before landing on a boat.

White-winged Black Tern
This seemed to be its favourite perch as it returned here regularly to preen.

We all enjoyed great views of this lovely bird.

Happy Tern watchers!

Though not all the locals were friendly!
We then moved onto the Brecklands and enjoyed the wonderful sight of 22 Stone Curlews, and no that's not a 22-stone Curlew, thank you Twitter followers!

Happy Stone Curlew watchers!
With Day 1 getting off to such a cracking start, what would the rest of the weekend bring?
