Norfolk Autumn Sunshine

Cley Marshes NWT Reserve, Norfolk
We arrived in Hunstanton, Norfolk early afternoon and met up with Malcolm, Peter and Sarah-Jane and were soon out birding. The weather was perfect, warm sunshine and flat calm. At Thornham we were soon watching lots of waders including Greenshank, Bar-tailed Godwit and Golden Plover, a Marsh Harrier drifted over.
Over at Walsey Hills NOA, east of Cley-next-the-Sea we tracked down the female Red-backed Shrike and soaked up wonderful views as she gabbed insects and down them in one. What a wonderful bird!
A walk down the east bank at Cley gave us lovely views of a pair of Bearded Tits and lots more waders. Offshore Gannets and Common Scoter were added to our fast growing day list.
Back at Walsey Hills a Yellow-browed Warbler was in the trees by the pool but very elusive!
On Cley reserve we watched masses of birds from the hides and enjoyed close views of many species. Ruff, Black-tailed Godwit and Common Snipe were amongst the waders here.
Heading back west we stopped near Holkham over-looking the fresh marsh and enjoyed lovely views of Pink-footed Geese, Golden Plover, Grey Partridges and a Barn Owl, superb birding.
We rounded the day off with a lovely meal in Thornham, top day!
