Just a quick update from Oland in Sweden, where we're being kindly hosted by our friend Lars Rydgren and the Swedish 300 Club. Our morning began with up close and personal views of a juvenile Sabine's Gull, quickly followed by equally crippling views of a juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper. We marvelled at the aerial dexterity of a White-tailed Eagle taking a Mallard in mid-air right before our eyes before three other White-tailed Eagles tried to muscle in on the meal. The air was filled with raptors including Steppe Eagle, and literally dozens of Rough-legged Buzzards. But despite these amazing birds, it was the visible migration that stole the show. Hundreds of thousands of birds were migrating south over the peninsula. The vast majority were Barnacle Geese, but also huge numbers of Common Eider, Common Cranes, and Dark-bellied Brent Geese.Tonight we're giving a talk on The Biggest Twitch to the Swedish 300 Club, hope they enjoy it as much as they seemed to last time.
