Happy memories of birding in Arizona
Happy memories of birding in Arizona
Hard to imagine but this time a few years ago, we were just starting out on our big adventure of The Biggest Twitch, our year-long bird race to set a new birding record. We began our big year in Arizona and spent a whole three days birding like crazy around Arizona.
It's a fantastic part of the world with some pretty amazing birds to enjoy, and three days is nowhere near long enough to do it justice, so it's one more on our long list of places that we'd like to revisit for more birding some time. But in the meantime, we can re-live some happy memories looking at our photos.
Acorn Woodpecker - it seemed these characters were busy wherever there were trees and acorns to be found!

Sandhill Cranes, Snow Geese and Ross's Geese made for an incredible spectacle at Sulphur Springs

How's this for a bird table bird! Male Gambel's Quails feeding on a seed tray in a back garden!

Maybe more subtle in plumage, but the female Gambel's Quails are pretty smart too, and just as keen on bird table feeding!
