A bitter cold windy wet day but we ventured out to try and see some birds. The north shore at Llandudno was windswept and grim and worse still no sign of the previous days five Twite. We moved to Penrhyn Bay in case the Twite had returned to their feeding area on the sea defences but no sign here either. Rock Pipit and a gang of Linnet was all.At Rhos Point we had great views of six roosting Purple Sandpipers but it was so cold and windy we soon hurried back to the car.We checked the fields inland from Penrhyn Bay and eventually found a large finch flock and enjoyed some good looks at Brambling, good to see some 40 Skylarks in the stubble here.At Tal-y-cafn bridge in the Conwy valley we soon found the wintering Common Sandpiper and were surprised to see a second one here.We were now very cold and the rain was getting heavier by the minute so we called it a day and headed to the Princes Arms in Trefriw for an excellent, very large lunch!
