Geese Arrive in Norfolk
Our latest birdwatching trip over to Norfolk was yet another brilliant experience with so many birds! It began in fine style with a visit to Welney WWT Reserve where we enjoyed great views of Common Cranes. These huge birds were watched feeding on the washes and then gave a spectacular fly past as the circled the reserve.
The trip continued with more and more great birds but one particular spectacle really stole the show.
We arrived at Thornham Harbour as dawn was breaking, what a start to the day!
The sun rise was beautiful but what was to follow was just breath taking.
From the north came skeins of geese, Pink footed Geese, arriving from Iceland
Flock after flock swept in over the North Sea calling excitedly as they reached land!
Some of the thousands of arriving birds passed right overhead, thrilling!
The coast here is teaming with birds and the rising tide pushed them all closer
A wonderful trip and we can't wait for our week long Norfolk adventure soon.
