Great news the Finnair pilots strike is over so we are going to Finland this weekend to give a talk on The Biggest Twitch. We are hoping to see a few birds as well of course. Our last winter trip to Finland was very memorable as we went to see a very special bird, an Azure Tit! This mega rare bird was coming to a feeding station deep in a forest and we stood in deep snow in minus 19, bitter cold. At last the Azure Tit came in and we had great views before diving back into the car and getting the heater on quick. In three days we saw just 19 species but what quality! We watched Nutcrackers, Hawk Owl, White-backed, Black and Grey-headed Woodpeckers a wonderful trip.Tonight, Wednesday 18 November, we are giving a talk in Ormskirk, Lancashire. The talk is to the West Lancashire Wildlife group at 7.15pm. None members are very welcome £2.50 payable on the door. If you are in the area do come along and hear all about our adventures last year.We will be at the RSPB Conwy Christmas Fair on Sunday 29 November where we will be chatting to visitors about The Biggest Twitch and will have our 2010 Calendars for sale, be great to see you there. Then we have another talk at RSPB Conwy on Friday 11th December at 7pm this will be a new talk with lots of new images and stories from The Biggest Twitch.18.11.09
