Eagles Grouse and Martens Scotland October 2014
Eagles, Grouse and martens in Scotland,October 2014

We had wonderful weather on our Highlands trip and stunning scenery.
October is a wonderful time to visit the Scottish Highlands with the autumn colours, the red deer rut and of course fantastic birds. We drove north in glorious sunshine and made good time to Grantown-on-Spey. With the weather so good we decided to head straight for the Findhorn Valley and as always, the scenery was stunning and red deer stags were roaring from the hillsides all around us. A Peregrine swept over a ridge in hot pursuit of a flock of birds but failed make a kill. This wonderful falcon then landed on the ridge above us. We watched one fine red deer stag in the valley below us as it followed a hind and a well grown calf but the female seemed immune to his roaring advances, but it was wonderful for us to watch.
