Ruth was asked if she’d like to do a book signing of her new books called Birds, Boots and Butties at Conwy RSPB’s Summer Fair on Saturday. We don’t need much persuading to visit this fantastic Reserve, and so Saturday afternoon saw us both sitting behind a table piled high with books: both editions of Ruth’s books covering Conwy/Eastern Snowdonia and Anglesey, as well as copies of Best Birdwatching Sites in North Wales written together by Alan and Owen Roberts, before we left for The Biggest Twitch. To tell the truth, it was a little nerve-wracking at first. What if no-one was interested? But we shouldn’t have worried. As it was a warm sunny afternoon, people were flocking to visit the Reserve and enjoy their birdwatching with the added bonus of various stands selling plants, photos and second-hand books etc. And handily placed right beside the till, were yours truly busily signing our books. We had a steady of flow of people stopping to pick up the books and chat to us, and everyone left having bought at least one book. People seemed to really like the wonderful bird photos, and the top tips on where to get a decent cuppa. At one point we even had a queue of people waiting to buy their signed copy – birthday dedications, thank you’s, even Christmas dedications – these books were selling like hot cakes! In fact, they proved so popular that we had completely sold out after only an hour and a half. Probably just as well, we were beginning to get writer’s cramp from so much signing! So if you want to avoid disappointment, buy your copy quick! Available at Conwy RSPB Reserve and North Wales bookshops, or alternatively drop us an email and we’ll be happy to send you a copy.
