Birdwatching in Cheshire
We met up with Brian and Helen for a day out exploring their local area near Warrington, Cheshire and enjoyed some great birds in sunshine!
We began at Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve, a short walk from the house
Giant Hogweed towered above us
Black necked Grebes are the stars here and we saw several juveniles and two adults
A little distant for our camera but wonderful views with the Leica scope.
The reserve has a wonderful new hide that can hold a whole bird club!
Plenty of rooom for the four of us!
Helen and Brian enjoying a Green Sandpiper
Even a loo, it's a great reserve, you will need a permit in advance to visit
Plenty of wildfowl here, this Pochard, Gadwall, Tufted Duck also Kingfisher
We also visited Houghton Green Flash at Winwick
Eight more Black necked Grebes here, great to see many juvenile birds.

On nearby farmland Brian and Helen knew just where to find some special birds...
Not only stunning male Yellow Wagtails but Corn Bunting and Yellowhammer
Many thanks to Brian and Helen for a lovely day and great birds.
