A walk from home out into our extended back yard, the Great Orme at Llandudno. It was a lovely morning with bright sunshine and flat calm. The sort of day you stand and actually watch birds, enjoying the pleasure of good views of common species. The wooded area was buzzing with plenty of life, Treecreeper, Coal Tit and Goldcrest all fed within a few meters of the path. Out on to the grazed hillside and a Chough was one of the first birds seen, the coral red bill and legs glowing in the sun. A Raven flew and landed on a rock outcrop, croanking loudly as he alighted. Above a Fulmar circled on stiff wings failing to land on the cliffs. Down at west shore a Black Redstart put in a brief appearance on the building site, where a large hotel once stood. The return walk was enlivened by a female Sparrowhawk passing above us, yellow eyes flashing in the sun. The Chough was seen again feeding above the path with a gang of Jackdaws.
