Another early morning visit to RSPB Conwy but sadly no sign of the previous days Spoonbill. Plenty of birds about despite the low tide, a flock of 17 Black-tailed Godwits dropped in looking very handsome in the early morning sun-light. A gang of Redshank were roosting on one of the islands and amongst them a single Greenshank. The pair of Great crested Grebes were tending their two young, one youngster per adult. The resident Goldeneye was still diving in the second lagoon along with a drake Pochard and a gang of Tufted Duck.
Reaching the estuary track a movement in the boulders was a stoat rushing around at high speed. A quick bit of “pishing” and the stoat came running towards me, the stoat came pretty close before turning tail and vanishing into the rocks. As the little mammal shot out of sight calls from behind were a real shock, Bearded Tits! Turning I first saw another stoat on the grass at the edge of a small patch of reeds. Then I saw the Bearded Tits, two juvenile birds sat in the reed tops above the stoat apparently mobbing the predator. The Bearded Tits were very mobile so almost impossible to photograph, but great to see.
