In the middle of a busy life, it can be hard to take out a few minutes to remember. But at 11 minutes past 11 this morning, we downed tools and stopped for two minutes in silence to remember the ultimate sacrifice that others have made for us, so that we can be free to live in peace and free to travel. This time last year at Taman Negara in Malaysia it was even harder to take the time to pause as we rushed around with our friend Keith Barnes from Tropical Birding in pursuit of more new birds for our list, but some traditions can be followed wherever you are in the world. It is hard to believe it was a whole year ago that we were staying in this beautiful resort and sharing our very lifeblood with leeches as we birded in the tropical forests here. But you soon forget these sneaky little bloodsuckers as soon as you catch sight of some of the beautiful birds here: Great Argus, Blue-crowned Hanging-Parrot, Scarlet-rumped Trogon, Rhinosceros Hornbill, Black-and-red Broadbill, blue-winged Pitta..... have we tempted you to get on a plane yet?The Biggest Twitch has gone high tech! We're now on twitter so do follow us on biggesttwitch - after all, if two record-breaking birders can't write a tweet, who can??
