A taster of Finland and Norway
A taster of Finland and Norway
Just back from a brilliant two-week birdwatching trip to Finland and Norway. We enjoyed some fantastic birds in beautiful locations, and all in unbelievably warm and sunny weather. Wearing shorts in the Arctic, who'd have thought it!
We've plenty of photos to share of the beautiful and varied birds that we encountered on our trip, but here's just a brief taster to keep you going for now!

Close encounter with a Capercaillie!

Jetty makes the perfect nest site for a Common Gull

Ural Owl watching us watching it

Looks like rain, dear!

No rain here, we're birding in short sleeves in the Arctic!

Arctic Skua on dry land, well almost!

Northern Norway in the sunshine

Plenty of Puffins on Hornoya Bird Island, Varanger, Norway
Plenty more photos to follow....
Our thanks to Helen and Brian, Jacqui and Kevin, Julie and Geoff, Jayne, and Sue for making this such a fun trip, and to Pekka and Mika for getting us in the right places at the right time!
We'll be running this trip again in 2014 so if you'd like more information, please email us on
info@thebiggesttwitch.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
