Today we birded our way to Leeton with numerous stops en route to pick up new birds. Parrots provided plenty of colour with both Yellow and Eastern Rosella, Superb and Red-rumped Parrot, and our first Cockatiels, a bird we are used to seeing as a sad cage bird in the UK - great to see them flying free. A roadside pool held a single Yellow- billed Spoonbill, roadside trees a flock of lovely White-browed Woodswallows, farm fields had Brown and Rufous Songlarks. White-winged Chough fed by the roadside as did a noisy gang of Little Raven. The Aussie media have picked up on our adventure, thanks to our friend Sean Dooley, and we have done three interviews the last two days! At dusk we headed out to Leeton Swamp and added more birds to our list including Baillon's, Australian Spotted and Spotless Crakes, Australian Bittern, Australian Shoveler and Yellow-rumped Thornbill.Bird species list 3651, just 12 needed ... so tomorrow could be THE day, we're off at 3.30am to give us the best chance of breaking the record in October.Posted Leeton 30th October
