St Valentine's Day but where are the roses?
14th February We celebrated St Valentine's Day with a 4.30am departure followed by a 3-hour drive to Sof Omar. In rather warm temperatures we birded the picturesque valley picking up the endemic Salvadori's Serin along with Mottled Swift, Black-throated Barbet, Northern Brownbul, Brown-tailed Rock-Chat, Pigmy Batis, Somali Tit and the stunning Bristle-crowned Starling. Visiting the amazing caves buried below the limestone cliffs gave us a welcome break from the heat before we began the long drive back. The tour's Ethiopia total is on over 460 birds, amazing, with 10 days of birding still to go. Bird total: 1484
