Out on the marsh in the canoe again first thing, enjoying close up views of the myriad of water birds here including Lesser Moorhen and Lesser Sandplover. Then it was back on the road again – more boneshaking rough tracks which Ken seems to relish driving along with great skill – to our next destination, Mutinondo Wilderness Lodge. This is a unique area of preserved Miombo Woodland interspersed with bizarre ‘whalebacks’, huge domes of granite rock rising out of the ground. Here we saw close views of Miombo Sunbird to our list, as well as an as yet undescribed sunbird, great to see even if we can’t count it!
Bird species total: 3178
