Just arrived and already adding exciting new birds to our list. Dark was already falling by the time we'd flown to Zambia and driven to our accommodation just outside Lusaka. Pioneer Camp (www.pioneercampzambia.com) is set in large grounds which look promising to explore first thing tomorrow but we'd barely checked in when we saw an amazing sight wheeling in the sky around a lamppost: a male Pennant-winged Nightjar hawking for moths attracted to the light. We watched this gorgeous bird for some time as it circled overhead. What a great start to our Zambian birding, let's hope it continues like this!Tomorrow we set off with Ken Behrens from Tropical Birding to visit some of the great birding areas in this country, so we're not too sure how easily we'll find internet access over the next few days, so do bear with us.Bird species total: 3124Posted 11th September, Lusaka, Zambia
