8th December. Myzornis makes the day!
Out into the chilly pre-dawn again to try more altitude birding. Not quite so high this time, just a mere 10,000 feet. Birding was fairly slow but the views of the snow-capped Himalayas all around us were simply stunning. No doubting the bird of the day: a pair of Fire-tailed Myzornis, surely one of the most beautiful birds in India. What a colour-scheme: vivid green with a black bandit mask, orange-red breast, black orange yellow and white in the wing and of course glowing scarlet-red tail, and all this packed into a warbler-sized bird!
Bird species total: 4189
