The whole day was spent birding the road and trails of Fraser's Hill where we added a further 37 new species. Just a few of the highlights included: Malayan Whistling Thrush seen on the road at dawn, a flock of 6 Black-thighed Falconets, Red-bearded Bee-eater, Crimson-winged Woodpecker, Green-billed Malkoha, Lesser Yellownape, a gorgeous Red-headed Trogon which was alongside a pair of Pygmy Blue-flycatchers, Blue Nuthatch climbed athletically up a tree. One of the features of the birding today was the influx of Eastern Palearctic migrants, including such intresting species as Eastern Crowned Warbler and prolonged views of a fine Tiger Shrike. As we rounded a bend in the road a huge raptor was sitting in a dead tree. We screeched to a halt and enjoyed exceptionally close eye-level views of a Blyth's Hawk-Eagle. As we watched, this majestic raptor launched itself into the air and drifted across the valley and disappeared into the misty forest below.Bird species total: 3801Posted 9th November, Fraser's Hill, Malaysia
