Fast birding around the Cape
30th September
The start of a whistle-stop tour of key birding sites in the area. New birds came thick and fast as we birded up the coast north and west of Cape Town, before heading inland to end up at Klein Cederburg on the periphery of the Karoo Desert. Highlights included Cape Bulbul, Cape Gannet, Southern Penduline Tit (Cape), Karoo Scrub Robin, Sickle-winged Chat and South African Shelduck. The night sky here was the most fantastic spectacle, we never knew there were so many stars in the universe, we’re definitely deprived in the northern hemisphere!
