Farewell to RSPB Conwy

The Biggest Twitch took another step closer to departure as Alan left his job at RSPB Conwy on Friday. After nearly six years as Site Manager, he’s now unemployed! A busy two weeks lie ahead now with lots of last minute preparations before flying out to Arizona where we begin birding on 1st January. Alan thoroughly enjoyed his time at RPSB and would like to thank all his friends and colleagues for their support over the years, and for logging on to our website in such huge numbers! The reserve at Conwy has kept on providing good birds right up to the last minute with a wintering Curlew Sandpiper showing well on Alan’s last day. We will be passing through the UK at the end of January en route from South America to Africa and will spend the day of 30th January dashing around North Wales in an attempt to add as many year ticks as possible. We will of course be visiting RSPB Conwy on that day and hope it will give a good boost to our list. Of course every species we see will count as this will be our first visit to the UK in 2008.
