Whew! What a great three days. As always the British Birdwatching Fair did not disappoint and we had a wonderful time catching up with so many old friends and making new ones of course. The fair also gave us a chance to review and re-plan our remaining four and half months to ensure we achieve our goal of a new world record. It is fitting that 2008 is an Olympic year and we have been inspired by events in China to push on and smash that record what ever it takes! We will finish the year heavily in debt but finish it we will.
The fair gave us the chance to share a little of our adventure with people as we gave a half hour talk on the Saturday morning. It was very hard trying to cram so many great birds, places and people into thirty minutes, of course it was impossible to include more than the highlights, but we hope we managed to convey a little of the thrill of The Biggest Twitch. We certainly have received some exceptionally kind reviews of the talk which we were delighted to hear. Many thanks to Tropical Birding, www.tropicalbirding.com and Stuart Elsom www.stuartelsom.co.uk for helping us out with a few stunning photos to complement ours. Looking forward to 2009 we will be very happy to give talks on our amazing year to any group, and already have some bookings, so if you would like us to give a talk, do get in touch.
Don’t worry the fair did not stop us birding completely and thanks to some good info from Debbie and Don at Shearwater Journeys we added Tawny Owl, at last, to our year list.
A huge thank you to all the people that helped make the fair another fantastic event and we can’t wait for next year already!
