What is a Cookie

A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is a piece of data stored by a website within a browser, and then subsequently sent back to the same website by the browser. Cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember things that a browser had done there in the past, which can include having clicked particular buttons, logging in, or having read pages on that site months or years ago.

Why we use them

When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. Where services are delivered on the internet, this sometimes involves placing small amounts of information on your device, for example, your computer or mobile phone. First party cookies

These are our own cookies, controlled by us and used to provide information about usage of our site.

We use cookies in several places – we’ve listed each of them below with more details about why we use them and how long they will last.

ASP.NET_SessionId	The ASP.NET session state is a technology that lets us identify different users of the site by a session ID.	Session IDs are a 120-bit random number that is represented by a 20-character string. The string is formatted so that it can be included in a URL and it does not have to undergo URL encoding. whoson	Is a cookie put onto the system by the whoson client we install. It is used to track a user on a site in order to be able to use livechat so the admin can help a user on particular pages.	Stores a number to use as a Unique Identifier for a user currently online.

Third party cookies

These are cookies found in other companies’ internet tools which we are using to enhance our site, for example Facebook or Twitter have their own cookies, which are controlled by them.

Log files

Log files allow us to record visitors’ use of the site. The CMS puts together log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make improvements to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information about you. If you receive the HTML-formatted version of a newsletter, your opening of the newsletter email is notified to us and saved. Your clicks on links in the newsletter are also saved. These and the open statistics are used in aggregate form to give us an indication of the popularity of the content and to help us make decisions about future content and formatting.

Best of North Wales January 2015

Best of North Wales January 2015 with Bird Watching Magazine

We have again teamed up with the most popular bird magazine, Bird Watching, to offer a wonderful winter break. North Wales is a marvellous destination at any time of year so what better way to start 2015 than spending time enjoying great birds in stunning scenery.

January offers masses of wildfowl and waders plus some very special resident birds. The variety of habitats in a small area provide a huge range of species all in amazing landscapes. From high mountains, through forests, valleys, estuaries, marshes and dramatic sea-cliffs we enjoy lots of great birds.

During this five day tour we will look for such exciting birds as Red-throated Diver, Great Northern Diver, Slavonian Grebe, Shag, Whooper Swan, Pale-bellied Brent Goose, Long-tailed Duck, Common Scoter, Red-breasted Merganser, Red Kite, Peregrine Falcon, Purple Sandpiper, Black Guillemot, Rock Pipit, Dipper, Stonechat, Chough, Hawfinch and any scarce or rare birds that maybe in the area. We hope to enjoy around 120 species during the tour.

Two Whooper Swans

Your guides will be the local experts Alan Davies and Ruth Miller, who have many years experience as professional bird guides. Alan is author of the acclaimed site guide "Best Birdwatching Sites in North Wales" and Ruth has published a series of birdwatching and walking guides to North Wales called Birds, Boots and Butties. Both Alan and Ruth worked for the RSPB before setting up their succesful bird tour company in 2009. They now spend much of their time sharing the birdlife and scenery of North Wales with visitors to this wonderful part of the UK.

Hawfinch Roy de Hass

The tour is based at the Princes Arms Hotel, Trefriw, in the scenic Conwy Valley with birdwatching from your window! This lovely country hotel overlooks the Conwy River and adjacent fields, a perfect location. The meals at the hotel will be just one of the many highlights of this tour. Additional nights can be arranged at the hotel if you would like to extend your break.

Your Holiday

Day One

Our tour starts with arrival at the Princes Arms in the picturesque Conwy Valley in time for lunch. After lunch we visit nearby RSPB Conwy where we expect to enjoy waders and wildfowl at close range.

Day Two

We visit the beautiful island of Anglesey with its dramatic coastal scenery. Chough and Black Guillemot will be high on our wanted list but we will also look for raptors, waders and wintering wildfowl on the pools, lakes and estuaries of the island. A visit to RSPB South Stack will be one of the many highlights on this day.

Day Three

Today we head south to the coast of Cardigan Bay in search of seaducks. We hope to enjoy Long-tailed Ducks and flocks of Scoter. We will aslo look for Whooper Swans, Pale-bellied Brent Geese, Great Northern Divers and more all in stunning scenery.

Day Four

We head to the Dee Estuary in search of more raptors, wildfowl and waders and perhaps a Great white Egret. Other highlights could include Water Rail and Little Owl. A visit to RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands will be included in this exciting day.

Day Five

We spend the morning exploring the Conwy Valley and adjacent woodland in search of the elusive Hawfinch among many other species. We return to the hotel for lunch before guests depart on their homeward journey at the end of our North Wales Tour.
