Ten new birds

Pre-breakfast, the two of us plus Mike Duckham drove the back forest roads at Ivalo, saw Parrot Crossbill and Waxwing.  First bird after breakfast, just on the outskirts of Ivalo, was a Little Bunting, showing off very close to us.  Then we drove north to an area near the Russian Border.  Three new birds here: Siberian Jay, Siberian Tit and a family of Hawk Owls.  Then we headed towards Ujotski, stopping en route to enjoy fantastic close up views of Pine Grosbeak and Arctic Redpoll at the bird tables of a roadside café.  On again, we stopped in the middle of a large bog, where we found another Hawk Owl and added Bluethroat to our list.  A roadside lake gave us views of a pair of Bean Goose, our tenth new bird for the day.
Bird species total: 2273
